JETAANY Mascot Design Contest Results
JETAANY is excited to announce the results of our mascot design contest! We received many wonderful submissions from our talented alumni, so the decision certainly wasn't easy. The 3 official new mascots for our jurisdiction are:
New York: Pi-Tan-ni, designed by Morgan Thompson from Queens (Hyogo (Kobe City) JET, 2016-2017)
New Jersey: Jersey Boyd, designed by Sierra Block Gorman from Brooklyn (Gunma JET, 2021-2024)
Pennsylvania: Go Boyds, also designed by Sierra Block Gorman
Congratulations to our 2 winners! We truly appreciate the time, effort and thought that went into all of the submissions. These 3 characters will make appearances on future promo graphics and merch, so keep an eye out for them!
Learn more about the concepts behind the mascots:
- Pi-Tan-ni, or Pi-Tan, is a New York City Pigeon on a mission to connect the world. By blending elements of both New York (the Statue of Liberty) and Japan (the kimono and fans), she embodies JETAANY’s culture of bringing people together. Her backpack is made of two Metro Cards taped together, and when she’s not using her fans, she stores them in her backpack with a few seeds and grains of rice. She enjoys welcoming visitors to New York with a smile.
Her name is a portmanteau of “Pigeon," “tan," the diminutive in Japanese, and “ni” in New York (Like JETAANY).
- Meet Jersey Boyd, a seagull from Jersey Shore. He can't leave home without his slick hairdo and NJ chain. He might seem intimidating, but that's just his face. He's actually a big softie who loves karaoke. Despite living by the beach, he's a big hockey fan - go Devils!
- Meet Go Boyds, an eagle from Philadelphia. His nickname is based on the cheer for his favorite football team, the Eagles! He can get a bit rowdy, but he's got hidden depths - his monkey bread is the talk of the farmer's market. He's always got his trusty PA beanie and his JETAANY happi coat.
