Ryan Hata (Candidate)

Ryan Hata was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. He was an ALT in Tottori from 2014-2017. His time on JET left a lasting impression, inspiring him to stay involved however he can. He has held several leadership roles with JETAANY including President (2022-2025), Vice President (2020-2022), the Membership/Career Development Chair (2018-2020), and the Events Chair (2025). He currently serves on the JETAA International Board of Advisors and also supports the wider JET alumni community by helping distribute job opportunities through USJETAA and JETwit. 

He currently works at Columbia Business School, where he supports the globalization of MBA students’ experiences at the Jerome A. Chazen Institute for Global Business. In this role, he collaborates with student clubs on event planning, helps coordinate short-term global programs for faculty and students, assists visiting professors and Ph.D. candidates during their time on campus, and brings C-suite executives to the School for both large and small group discussions. 

Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, exploring new cuisines, and attending sporting events.
