Reshma Harripersad

Treasurer

Hyogo, 2021-25

Reshma Harripersad was born in Trinidad and raised in the Bronx. She first heard about the JET Program while pursuing her Bachelor’s in International Affairs at Skidmore College. Comfortable with traveling abroad after studying in Indonesia, Morocco, and Italy and working in India and Guatemala, she applied to the JET Program.

Experienced in working in education and government settings, Reshma is driven to ensuring that historically and systemically underrepresented people are given access to the resources they need to succeed. One of those demographics is women. While on JET, she spent three and a half years working at Mukogawa Women’s University Junior and Senior High School, an all-girls school. There she had the opportunity to work with Japanese students as well as international students flown in from schools in Ireland, New Zealand and more, and helped her own students prepare for international travel to the US and Canada. Upon return to NYC, her personal interest in financial literacy and her desire to remain engaged with Japanese culture led her to her position as Treasurer of JETAANY.
